Homeground

The DAP was the homeground of Mandaluyong Chapter when it started. After a year, the chapter's Board of Directors decided it needed a new venue where the atmosphere was less formal and easily accessible to public transport to address the other members' transportation concerns. Majority of the members suggested a monthly change in venue to give variety and build enthusiasm. The chapter hopped on to Facilities Center along Shaw Blvd., later to Cravings Restaurant at the Shangri-la Plaza and then to Via Mare at the Penthouse of the Tektite Bldg. The venues chosen by the chapter speaks for the high standard of practice initiated and instilled by CRB Hernandez to its members. "Enticing members to join is one thing. Keeping them above spirits in this profession is another. The ambience of a place is as important in the conduct of business to boost the psyche and enhance the frame of mind in projecting professionalism," says Hernandez. With the choice of venues for business meetings and seminars, Mandaluyong Chapter had thrived its operation captivating applicants from amongst the circle of other professional fields and upper class background who have eventually become members.

In 1995, the chapter moved its business meeting venue to the El Pueblo, the "in" place at that time in the Ortigas Center. The chapter made it a point to be at the center of the "action" place in the Ortigas Business District where their members' businesses thrived. It was important to be updated with the trends being the reason for exploring different venues. To be amidst the center of activity, "bumping into people," gives more opportunities to expand the network and market base.

Today, a new concept of business meeting venues was adopted. With the aim of addressing cost reduction, variety in the program and conduct of meetings, updating trends in the industry and meeting people, the chapter has offered corporate sponsors to host the venues of its weekly meetings. The sponsors provide the venue and snacks in exchange for a full presentation of their projects, products and services. More often, corporate sponsors host the meetings at their offices or headquarters. In turn, the members get a chance to see for themselves how these companies operate, giving the members ideas on how they can manage their respective businesses as well. Also, it gives members the opportunity to meet the corporate sponsor's personnel and familiarize themselves to enhance working and networking rapport.

As the new venue concept requires an advanced calendar of activities, all activities are planned and approved a month ahead so as to keep every member abreast with the schedules, thus promoting organization skills and time management.
