Brief History of REBAP MANDALUYONG CHAPTER

In July 1993, CRB Janette SJ Hernandez had just resigned from Makati Chapter and was prospecting a transfer to another REBAP Chapter more accessible to her residence in Pasig City. Then National President, Engr. Policarpio Alberto, initiated a creation of a new chapter in Mandaluyong. Greenhills Chapter, then headed by CRB Lilia Lopez, saw the opportunity to be the proponent of the new chapter formation. Engr. Alberto, together with CRB Buenaventura Fulgencio and Lilia Lopez began talks with CRB Hernandez to consider forming Mandaluyong Chapter instead of transferring to another chapter. Engr. Alberto later introduced CRB Hernandez to CRB Ma. Lourdes Cristobal and Ramon Barretto, both members of Rizal Chapter, who were also on their way searching to join another chapter.

The Oritgas Center Business District was a thriving and growing commercial community at that time. The Municipality of Mandaluyong was also prospecting to become a City. Seeing this, the three members from different chapters envisioned to capture the booming real estate market in the Mandaluyong jurisdiction of the Ortigas Center. As there was also growing real estate activity in the downtown side of Mandaluyong, Hernandez, Cristobal & Barretto, eager to carve a niche in this municipality, began enticing new and unaffiliated licensed brokers to join them in the formation of Mandaluyong Chapter.

As recommended by Engr. Alberto and the Greenhills Chapter proponents, CRB Hernandez was their personal choice to charter the new chapter. Convinced she would ably lead and grow the REBAP membership, CRB Hernandez accepted the leadership and was formally inducted on September 3, 1993 at the Development Academy of the Philippines along San Miguel Ave., in Mandaluyong, together with the 10 other recruited members that completed the 11-member requirement for chapter formation, namely: Rossana B. Regalado, Ma. Lourdes Cristobal, Mina Bailon, Jesus Amado Poblete, Teresita Syyap, Ramon Barretto, Roderick Batingal, Teresita Barde, Angelica Q. Gonzales & Victoriano Gabato.
